Synergy within the Aboitiz group has always reflected our commitment to collaborative excellence and innovation. In an impressive display of this particular synergy, UBX developed a Unified Loans Origination System for CitySavings in under 100 days.
This collaboration not only embodies community, leadership, and dedication but has also positively impacted customers. The system ensures a seamless end-to-end application process, automating lending, adhering to BSP standards, and enhancing the borrower experience, aligned with CitySavings’ objective of implementing an automated system for managing motorcycle loan applications from start to finish.
Billy's Story
CitySavings and UBX’s synergistic collaboration leveraged innovation and digital transformation for its lending journey to co-create the solution: an on-line and off-line loan application system.
Using Agile methodologies, they delivered the first release of the project in a short span of 100 days. The Agile approach only works when the team has the mindset and culture for continuous improvement and team collaboration, instead of just “doing things by the book”. The team broke down the project into smaller, more manageable tasks and worked on them in an iterative manner.
This allowed the team to quickly adapt to changes in the business and deliver a high-quality product in a short amount of time. This is a pilot and not yet perfect. We deploy, learn, correct, and iterate.
The UBX team consisted of software engineers with global expertise in capital markets, AI, and high-performance computing. The CitySavings team consisted of their internal technology and business teams who understand their customers and the commercial business case.
Synergies within the team brought a wealth of knowledge and experience to the project, which helped them overcome challenges and deliver a product that met the customers’ needs. All within 100 days and designed to create long-term lower total cost of ownership than the 3rd party outsourced developers!
As a result of this synergy, there are several important value-enhancing outcomes:
1) The intellectual property was created and is now retained within the group, instead of being owned by an external service provider
2) The business was retained within the group for maximum capital efficiency
3) The cost of the solution was lower than engaging a 3 rd party, and
4) The synergy increases the economic value to both CitySavings and UBX
These outcomes are beginning to be replicated within the broad AEV Group through the AEV Synergies Working Group.
The power of synergy is one that will propel us to achieve our vision to become the country’s first techglomerate.
Jane's Story
CitySavings’ two main products, salary loans and motorcycle loans. Motorcycle loans are relatively smaller compared to salary loans. Therefore, as we continue to grow our salary business, we also want to significantly grow our market share and portfolio in MC, and that’s when we worked back and asked ourselves: What were the pain points now? How do we address them? How do we significantly grow?
One of the challenges included low internet connection, lack of continuity in processing the application, and unavailability of the supporting docs in our Legacy LOS, among others. We understand our needs—our business. And so, how do we deliver the growth requirement while retaining the IP of our processes within the Group?
And that’s when we partnered with UBX, so that even as we run the pilot, we now have an offline mode, there is continuity in processing applications without redoing the steps in case of changes, and there is now an integration of the supporting docs within the application.
