GT Storytellers Series
In today’s competitive digital landscape, building a dream team requires more than just pulling people together; it calls for seamless synergy and teamwork to foster creativity and innovation within an organization. What exactly is the transformative power of collaborative teamwork, and how pivotal is it to our success?
Introducing Guille Francisco II, a valuable member of AEV’s Corporate External Relations team who embodies the spirit of collaboration and innovation, all while having fun doing it. Guille was a featured GT Storyteller in a recent SuperDuperCon episode. Let’s explore his team's transformative journey in the Strategic Tax Mapping Project, uncovering the vital role of teamwork in propelling us toward our techglomerate future.
I’m here to share our team’s transformation journey and how teamwork played a critical role in our Strategic Tax Mapping Project’s success.
Our team was able to cultivate an environment of openness and transparency by ensuring a safe space and breaking silos to have a free flow of ideas and collaboration for people to work closely.
The project started with a face-to-face workshop, which enabled people to know who they are working with along the way. This cultivated a better synergy between CSUs and business units to work together towards a common goal and desired output.
The project was a joint effort between Corporate External Relations and TACS, with the help of representatives of the different business units of the Aboitiz Group. Each team member has a clear understanding of one’s role in the project to achieve the goal. Luckily, the team members are on the same wavelength in terms of attitude and work behavior that made the collaboration easier and fun. I am really thankful for having the chance to work with TACS and with the other business units, as well as my bosses and teammates in Corporate External Relations, for their guidance and support for all the work that we do.
Coming into the Group in the middle of the hybrid set-up, we figured out that not everyone knows each other behind the screen. Having a face-to-face workshop allowed the team members to know each other well, to have that certain connection and safe space beyond virtual calls and profiles. This builds a certain connection and trust between the team to work better eventually.
We also made sure to have fun while working. Something I’m proud of the team is that we were able to have each other’s back while doing the tasks and at the same time celebrate when we achieved something important. This allowed the team to have fun while being productive. We learned that enjoying our work could also lead to more creativity.
One of the highlights was working well with other CSUs in AEV. This project opened opportunities for collaboration with TACS and with the business units. Having a safe space to collaborate enabled us to get fresh ideas and perspectives in solving low hanging fruits and improve our work.
We also changed how our CSUs worked together. We got rid of the barriers that used to separate teams for this particular work. This initiative made it easier for us to share knowledge and skills. We started working together more, and this made us stronger as a bigger team.
This is just a start for us, we have learned so much from this that we can apply to other new projects too. We plan to work together even better, taking chances, and keep the spirit of fun and being open for the next steps in the project and for future collaborations.
One cannot do all things alone. Each member matters, no matter how big or small the effort is, as it all leads to achieving one goal for the team.
In summary, the Strategic Mapping Project was a starting point for our team. By following these important ideas and incorporating teamwork, we achieved more together. Our success in this project will help us do even better in the future as we keep working together and enjoying what we do.
