The competition not only highlighted the innovative spirit of local talent but also underscored the importance of addressing contemporary challenges through creative solutions.
Innovation is a vital driver of progress in today’s rapidly changing world. Here at APRI, we make sure that we always uphold the value of innovation by creating opportunities and leading the team to achieve their respective goals contributing to our shared goal which is “to transform energy for a better world.”
2024 Inyovation: APRI “TaLinO Day”
The benefits of successful innovation projects extend beyond the organization itself. They contribute to economic growth, improve quality of life, and address societal challenges.
At AP Renewables Inc. we embrace the idea of hardships, crucial thinking and innovative mindset for enhancing efficiency, making the work easier, and contributing to a sustainable energy future. By emphasizing our commitment to innovation, we can position the company as a leader in the transition to clean energy.
As part of this commitment, on September 27th, Inyovation or TALINO Day (TALents, INnovation and Opportunities), a culminating activity of APRI, was held on UnionBank Innovation Campus. Individuals and teams presented their innovative projects and initiatives to the APRI audience and the invited panel of judges from cross-BU/SBUs. This provides a platform for recognition and opens up opportunities for collaboration and further development of innovative concepts.
A Day of Inspiration and Collaboration
The event began with a stimulating keynote address by the ARI President and COO, Mr. Jimmy Villaroman, a prominent figure in the field of innovation and entrepreneurship. “Innovation plays a vital role in Aboitiz Powers’ ambition to have a 50/50 balanced portfolio. Now if you asked me, we shape that future and who we are in that successful future, we need to be different from who we are today,” he remarked, setting the tone for an exciting day filled with creativity and collaboration.
Following the keynote, an opening message was carried off by APRI President and COO Jeffrey Estrella. Afterward, participants were given a brief overview of the competition rules and objectives.
Innovative Projects on Display
The projects presented this year showcased the diverse skill sets and innovative thinking of the participants. The competition begins with a project video and is followed by a PechaKucha-style presentation, where each of the 14 initiatives is presented in a maximum of 7 minutes using 20 slides, with each slide displayed for 20 seconds.
Judging Criteria and Feedback
Participants were evaluated by a panel of judges, including, APRI’s very own Jeffrey Estrella – President and COO, Joyce Padua – SAVP for Human Resources, Charlie Valerio – Chief Information Officer AP Information Systems Group (AP ISG), Ephraim Labrador – Sr. Builder, AP Corporate Energy Ventures (AP CEV) and, Ruby Jean Buenviaje – VP – Talent and Organization Development, APC, who assessed the projects based on criteria provided by AP and on other Category Awards such as Integrity, Teamwork, Innovation – Breakthrough, Innovation – Process Improvement, Innovation – Agile, Responsibility, Responsibility – SHE (Safety, Health and Environment) and Service Excellence award.
Each team was allotted a set amount of time to present their ideas, followed by a Q&A session with the judges.
The judges provided valuable feedback, allowing teams to gain insights that could enhance their projects beyond the competition. This interaction not only fostered a spirit of collaboration but also helped participants refine their ideas for future implementation.
