In every race—whether on the track or in life, a true marathoner sees the finish line not as an endpoint but as a call to push further.
Meet Glec Bautista, a valuable team member of AEV’s Transformative Technology team, whose journey didn’t begin with dreams of medals or records, but with a simple cheer from the sidelines. Driven by curiosity and a desire to stretch beyond his comfort zone, he laced up his shoes and started transforming his life one race at a time. Today, he embodies mental resilience, discipline, and the grit to keep going when the road gets rough. Like our GT2025 journey, Glec’s story shows the power of embracing change, breaking boundaries, and achieving more than we thought possible.
Let’s dive into his GT story and learn how a forward-thinking, goal-oriented mindset can take you farther than you imagined. Because, let’s face it, life’s a marathon, not a sprint. And Glec’s leading the way to win it.
From a supporter to an active participant, that’s how my running journey began.
I am Glec assigned to AEV Transformative Tech team, and today I’d like to share my story of how I transformed my sedentary routine into an active lifestyle that has strengthened both my mental resilience and overall well-being.
Back in 2018, I was the one cheering for my friends at the finish line, watching them conquer their distances. They encouraged me to join them, saying that running is one of the most accessible and least expensive sports out there. But little did I know that it is not the case for me, as we say in Filipino, “na-budol na pala ako.”
There’s a common saying in running: “It’s a marathon, not a sprint.” This is my personal mantra. When I run, I respect the distance no matter how short or far, by maintaining a steady pace, focusing on my breathing, and staying mindful of my nutrition. This helps me reach my target finish time and more importantly, fuels my mental fortitude.
For me, running a marathon isn’t about being the fastest, it’s about enduring, even when you hit “the wall.” Personal discipline is the foundation that supports those challenging moments and keeps me pushing to perform my best on race day.
