Stories have the power to shape us. They help us reflect, inspire action, and foster connection. As we navigate our Great Transformation, storytelling becomes one of the most impactful ways to nurture a thriving Aboitiz culture.
Last October 3, our A-People from across the Group – some experienced writers, others new to the craft—came together at UnionBank Plaza for a unique onsite workshop aimed at sharpening their storytelling skills. Organized by the Culture Pillar and Aboitiz Academy, the GT Storytelling Workshop was an opportunity to learn how to shape personal experiences of growth and change into powerful stories using the A+10 core behaviors as a guide. Another key goal was to help our team members practice being Articulate, so they can confidently and clearly express their stories, no matter the setting.
Opening the workshop, Union Bank of the Philippines HR Business Partner and Culture Pillar Squad 1 Product Owner Tina Calderon highlighted how storytelling forms part of building a culture that is built for our Great Transformation. “Storytelling is at the heart of our Great Transformation. It allows us to reflect on our journey, embrace change, and inspire others to do the same,” she said.
Whether participants had prior writing experience or not, the workshop promised to offer something new for everyone, helping each team member craft stories that resonated with authenticity, inspiration, and emotional depth.
Facilitated by AEV team members who previously completed the workshop and are now spreading what they’ve learned, participants explored various practical frameworks and concepts to give them more confidence in creating engaging narratives.
One key takeaway for many was understanding how to structure a story to keep an audience hooked from the very beginning. They also learned how important it is to connect emotionally with readers by weaving in sensory details and using the right tone.
The workshop imparted how to effectively construct our stories, from being accurate to contextualized statements to being mindful of our audience.

Throughout the session, the energy in the room built as participants exchanged ideas, refined their stories, and found new ways to express transformation. They explored how stories can inspire others and help bring the Group’s GT journey to life in a relatable, human way.
As their output, participants submitted their own story reflecting their personal journey and transformation, putting their newfound skills to the test. It was not just about learning a framework but embracing the responsibility to share stories that inspire and connect on a deeper level.
The GT Storytelling Workshop was an opportunity for growth, learning, and discovering new ways to share compelling stories that define Aboitiz’s Great Transformation journey. Regardless of their writing experience, each team member left empowered with the skills and confidence to craft impactful stories that resonate and inspire lasting change.
